Collaborative Learning Community: Culture, History, and Identity Comparison

Details:

This is a CLC assignment.

In your group choose which movie you will watch from among the following: The Joy Luck Club, Witness, The Color Purple, Spanglish, or The Rabbit-Proof Fence. Group members should agree on a movie that is new to the whole group. Copies can be found at a public library or video rental store.

Watch the movie to find distinct examples of answers to the following question: How is communication influenced by culture, history, and identity? Observe the characters in the story to determine what contributes to the way they communicate. After you have watched the movie, work with your group to answer the questions.

Prepare a PowerPoint presentation to show your learning. You should use at least 10 slides, including a title page with group members’ names. Each main point should be presented on its own slide with supporting evidence. Include a conclusion slide and a reference slide. Limit the number of images to four.

Make it fun but informative, showing depth of thought and critical thinking.
