Discussion : Tuskegee Experiment

In Week 1, you learned about the 1932-1972 Tuskegee Experiment, in which 399 black men were subject to medical research by the U.S. Public Health Services without their consent. Use what you’ve learned about this experiment, and your textbook, to answer these questions:

.Researchers used utilitarian ethics to support their actions. Do their actions make sense when viewed from a utilitarian perspective? Why or why not?

.Explain why and how Kantian ethics might have changed the researchers’ behavior.

.Propose a second ethical theory that might have saved these men from abuse.

Your initial post should be a minimum of 8 – 10 sentences and include an APA-style references list to ensure full credit. Respond to two other students in a minimum of 4 – 6 sentences, being sure to cite course material in APA format in your work.

ESSAY GUIDELINES -:

Write a 1000-1500-word essay addressing each of the following points. Be sure to completely answer all the questions for each bullet point. There should be two main sections, one for each bullet below. Separate each section in your paper with a clear heading that allows your professor to know which bullet you are addressing in that section of your paper.

Support your ideas with at least three (3) sources using citations in your essay. Make sure to cite using the APA writing style for the essay. The cover page and reference page in correct APA do not count towards the minimum word amount. Review the rubric criteria for this assignment.

Length: 1000-1500 words; answers must thoroughly address the prompts in a clear, concise manner.
